Course Details

Welcome to Pro Truckers Driving Academy! Our Class 1 Learning Pathway program is designed to provide aspiring truck drivers with comprehensive training to obtain a Class 1 license, which is required to drive heavy trucks across Canada. Our course follows all industry standards and regulations to ensure you gain the skills, knowledge, and experience needed for a successful trucking career.

Course Breakdown

Entry Program (Online)

40 Hours
  • The Entry Program is done online and the cost to register for it is $250. This fee is not included in the Class 1 Learning Pathway cost.
  • To enroll in the Entry program, go to the following link and follow the steps. https://driver.training.alberta.ca/
  • Students are able to contact the school and get assistance from a licensed instructor, with an additional fee of up to $700.
  • Once the Entry Program is completed, students can take the knowledge test at the registry ( additional cost of $17 applies at the registry).

Core Program: $6800

60 Hours
  • This 60 hour training program provides a structured path to obtaining a Class 1 driver's license in Alberta, focusing on core driving skills and air brake operation, and allowing drivers to gain practical experience within the province.
  • Upon completion, students can get their road test permit and the school will schedule the exam according to completion dates. Road test permit fee of $217 applies and is not included in the Class 1 cost.
  • The rental of one tractor-trailer unit is included in the class 1 fee. Any additional road test truck rentals is subject to a fee of $300.
  • Students must have their Air brake completed prior to the road test. An additional cost of $200 is applies to the Class 1 learning pathway fee if student is taking the air brake with our school.

Competence Building: $2500

25 Hours
  • Ranging between 17 to 25 hours, this program provides personalized driving instructions based on an initial assessment, aiming to improve specific skills. Upon successful demonstration of competence, the driver's class 1 license will allow them to operate as an interprovincial driver.
  • Students do not have to take another road test after completing this phase.
  • This fee of $2500 is additional and is not included in the initial Class 1 Learning Pathway fee. This program is purchased separately.

Competence Building Program

The Competence Building Program offers personalized driving instructions, ranging from 17 to 25 hours, tailored to individual driver needs identified through an previously completed Class 1 on-road assessment. Upon successful completion and demonstration of improved competencies, the program removes the Alberta restriction from the driver's Class 1 license, enabling interprovincial operation.

This course is designed to help students get the practice and knowledge they need to pass their Road test. Once a driver passes the necessary assessments including the Class 1 knowledge and road tests, vision screening, and submits a medical evaluation, they will receive a farm-restricted Class 1 driver's license marked with condition code “P”. This designation means the driver must adhere to specific farmer restrictions, and they are exempt from pre-licensing training requirements.
